Kannada Director Guruprasad Found Dead in Bengaluru Apartment: Police Suspect Suicide

Noted Kannada filmmaker Guruprasad was discovered dead in his apartment in Bengaluru on November 3, 2024, raising concerns of suicide. Police found his body in a decomposed state, suggesting he may have passed away several days prior. Guruprasad, who would have celebrated his 52nd birthday just a day earlier, was known for acclaimed films such as Mata, Eddelu Manjunatha, and Director’s Special.

Neighbors alerted authorities after a foul odor emerged from his residence in Madanayakanahalli. Preliminary investigations indicate that Guruprasad was facing significant financial difficulties, including a complaint lodged against him for unpaid debts related to books and CDs purchased from a local bookstore. His last film, Ranganayaka, had flopped at the box office, further compounding his troubles​
