On October 10, 2024, Omar Abdullah was unanimously elected as the leader of the National Conference (NC) Legislature Party following his party’s significant success in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. The NC emerged as the single largest party, securing 42 out of 90 seats. In alliance with the Congress, which won six seats, and with the support of four independent MLAs, the NC now holds a strong position to form the government.
