The Indian Railway recently completed the trial run of the Vande Metro, a new initiative following the high-speed Vande Bharat trains. Conducted on August 3 between Villivakkam and Walajah Road, the trial was overseen by the Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety (CCRS) with top officials from the Southern Railway, ICF, and RDSO present.
Key Details:
- Coaches and Speed: The Vande Metro will feature 12 fully air-conditioned coaches, designed for intercity travel of 150-200 km at an average speed of 110 kmph.
- Features: The train includes automatic doors, comfortable seating, infotainment, hand holders for standees, and CCTV cameras for enhanced security. Double leaf doors ensure easy boarding and de-boarding, and impressive acceleration and deceleration facilitate quicker travel.
Vande Bharat Network:
Vande Bharat services are operational nationwide on multiple routes, including New Delhi – Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Varanasi – New Delhi, Mumbai Central – Gandhinagar Capital, and more, providing efficient and comfortable travel options.
This new addition aims to improve intercity travel and provide a seamless and secure experience for passengers.
