In the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections, the BJP’s Manohar Lal Khattar was replaced by Ramesh Saini, who is now expected to continue as Chief Minister. As results came in on October 8, 2024, Saini’s leadership emerged as a key factor in BJP’s victory, particularly in rural areas. The Congress, however, has raised concerns about possible foul play, with several leaders claiming that electronic voting machines (EVMs) were tampered with.
This suspicion comes after Congress’s unexpected defeat in key constituencies, where they had initially projected a win. Hooda and other senior Congress leaders have called for an investigation into the election process, which they argue was not transparent. The Election Commission, however, has dismissed these claims, reaffirming the validity of the election results. The political landscape in Haryana remains tense, with protests expected in the coming days.
