AAP Announces Manish Sisodia’s Candidacy for Jangpura in Delhi Assembly Polls

As the Delhi Assembly elections loom closer, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) continues to make strategic decisions in selecting candidates for the 2025 elections. On December 9, 2024, the party released its second list of 20 candidates, including the prominent figure of Manish Sisodia. The former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, who had been representing Patparganj in the legislative assembly, is now set to contest from the Jangpura seat in the upcoming elections. This move marks a significant shift in his political trajectory, as the AAP aims to secure key constituencies across the city.

Sisodia’s decision to switch from Patparganj to Jangpura comes as the party continues to realign its focus in various parts of Delhi. His previous seat, Patparganj, will now be contested by Avadh Ojha, a well-known educationist and YouTube personality who recently joined AAP. This reshuffling demonstrates the party’s intent to strengthen its position in both traditional strongholds and newer territories. Ojha’s candidacy is expected to bring fresh ideas, especially focused on education and youth engagement, which have been central themes for AAP’s political campaigns.

The second list of candidates also features several significant names, including former BJP members who switched allegiances to the AAP. Jintender Singh Shunty, who will replace Ram Niwas Goel in Shahdara, and Surinder Pal Singh Bittu, who will take over in Timarpur, both represent the growing trend of cross-party movement in Delhi politics. Their inclusion in AAP’s fold is expected to bolster the party’s credibility, as they bring with them experience from different political backgrounds.

This list release signals the AAP’s preparation for what is expected to be a highly competitive election. The party’s leadership, including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, is positioning itself as a formidable challenger against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and other political factions in the city. With candidates like Sisodia taking prominent roles, AAP aims to maintain its hold on Delhi while pushing for expansion into new electoral regions.

The release of the second candidate list is part of AAP’s broader election strategy, which also includes outreach on issues like education, healthcare, and governance. With the upcoming assembly elections, AAP’s actions will be closely watched as they continue to reshape Delhi’s political landscape
