Nawazuddin Siddiqui to Portray Judge Upendra Nath Rajkhowa in Upcoming Biopic

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is set to star as Upendra Nath Rajkhowa, a former judge from Assam who was convicted and executed for the brutal murders of his wife and three daughters in 1970. The biopic will delve into the chilling true story of Rajkhowa, who misled authorities for months before being apprehended and sentenced to death. His brother, Faizuddin Siddiqui, who is producing the film, expressed deep interest in the project, highlighting Nawazuddin’s versatility and the film’s intense narrative.

The Chilling Case of Justice Rajkhowa: Rajkhowa was appointed as a judge in Dhubri, Assam, in 1969. His descent into infamy began when he orchestrated the murders of his family members. Despite digging pits on his property under the guise of planting flowers, Rajkhowa’s dark intentions came to light after the sudden disappearance of his wife and daughters. His eventual confession and the discovery of the bodies on his property led to his conviction and execution. The case remains one of Assam’s most notorious criminal incidents, with Rajkhowa never revealing the motive behind his heinous crimes.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Role: Siddiqui will bring this complex character to life on screen, diving deep into the psychological aspects of Rajkhowa’s life and crimes. The biopic aims to explore not only the events leading to the murders but also the emotional and psychological turmoil of the judge, making it a gripping portrayal of a man who shocked a nation.

A Chilling Narrative: The film will likely touch on how Rajkhowa manipulated those around him, including misleading police by claiming his family was visiting relatives. The plot will also explore the police investigation, which ultimately led to Rajkhowa’s arrest in Siliguri and his death sentence carried out in Jorhat Jail.

With this role, Siddiqui continues to challenge himself with complex characters, and the film promises to be a deep dive into one of India’s most disturbing criminal cases.
