Ahead of a major farmers’ protest march towards the national capital, Delhi-NCR has witnessed significant disruptions. As farmers from Uttar Pradesh, led by the Bhartiya Kisan Parishad (BKP), initiated their march on December 2, 2024, they were met with intense security measures and severe traffic congestion along key borders, particularly between Noida and Delhi. The protestors are demanding compensation and benefits linked to agricultural reforms, including the legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP).
In response to these protests, security forces have imposed multiple barricades and conducted rigorous vehicle inspections. Authorities have also issued detailed traffic advisories and set up diversions to manage the heavy traffic, which has created long queues, particularly at the Chilla Border. The march is aimed at highlighting key demands such as land compensation for farmers and the implementation of new agricultural laws.
The Noida Police, alongside Delhi’s forces, are actively managing the situation, expecting further disruptions as the protest continues. Traffic jams have severely impacted daily commutes, with delays becoming common across major routes, particularly for those traveling from Noida to Delhi. In some areas, like the Shambhu border, farmers are also planning further actions later this week to press their demands
