Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal recently voiced optimism about India’s ties with the U.S., especially if Donald Trump resumes office. Goyal believes a Trump-led administration could boost trade relations, particularly in sectors like electric vehicles (EVs), where India aims to attract U.S. companies.
According to Goyal, India is prepared to welcome top EV manufacturers, aligning with India’s focus on sustainable energy and expanding its automotive industry.
Trump’s tenure previously saw advancements in defense and trade cooperation, and with increasing global focus on climate change, India’s EV sector stands to benefit. With the government’s push for electric mobility, incentives, and policies aimed at reducing emissions, Goyal believes this is an ideal time for American EV firms to enter the Indian market.
He cited India’s vast potential as an EV manufacturing hub, noting how favorable policies and strong consumer demand could drive the sector forward.
