The Duleep Trophy, an essential domestic cricket tournament, will see Indian cricket superstars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli participating. The BCCI selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, plans to include all Test players to prepare for the upcoming home series against Bangladesh. Apart from Rohit and Kohli, other prominent players like Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, and Suryakumar Yadav are also expected to feature.
However, Jasprit Bumrah, who played a crucial role in India’s 2024 T20 World Cup victory, is unlikely to participate in the Duleep Trophy or the Bangladesh Test series. The Duleep Trophy, scheduled from September 5, 2024, will be held in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, although there are discussions to shift the venue to Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium for logistical reasons.
Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan, who were previously excluded from BCCI’s annual contract list due to their absence in domestic tournaments, are also expected to play. However, veteran players like Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane may not be considered, as the team management is focusing on younger talents for future engagements.
