Lal Krishna Advani, the veteran leader of India’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was recently admitted to Apollo Hospital in Delhi after a period of hospitalization at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). The 96-year-old former deputy prime minister’s admission to the private hospital came shortly after his discharge from AIIMS, where he had stayed for a night for treatment. Sources from the hospital have confirmed that Advani’s condition is stable, and he is under observation by specialists, including neurologists.
Advani has been a central figure in Indian politics for decades, notably contributing to the rise of the BJP and playing key roles in the government’s formation. His health has often made headlines, especially as his long political career continues to garner attention. His recent health concerns have sparked widespread interest given his influence on India’s political landscape, particularly his role in shaping the party’s ideology and leading the BJP during significant periods.
Earlier this year, Advani was conferred with the prestigious Bharat Ratna award, the country’s highest civilian honor, recognizing his decades-long contribution to India’s political and social development. Born in Karachi in 1927, Advani’s legacy is marked by his foundational role in the BJP and his long tenure as its president. Despite his declining health, his political legacy remains a subject of significant reverence and discussion in Indian political circles
