In a high-level meeting, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed the situation’s implications for regional stability. The violence includes attacks on Hindu temples and businesses, prompting widespread concern within India.
The Indian government has urged the Bangladeshi authorities to ensure the safety of minority communities while bolstering security at its High Commission and Assistant High Commissions across Bangladesh. India has also heightened vigilance along its northeastern borders, particularly in Meghalaya, to prevent spillover effects from the unrest.
Jaishankar has emphasized India’s diplomatic efforts to support stability in Bangladesh, maintaining close communication with both the local Indian community and Bangladeshi leadership.
