Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh – Veteran actress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament, Hema Malini, participated in the sacred ritual of taking a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam during the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela on January 29, 2025. The Triveni Sangam is the confluence of three rivers: the Ganges, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati, and is considered a highly auspicious site for Hindu devotees.
Observing Mauni Amavasya
Her visit coincided with Mauni Amavasya, a significant day in the Hindu calendar when millions gather to perform ritualistic baths, believing it purifies the soul and absolves sins. Hema Malini expressed her spiritual fulfillment, stating, “Iss shubh avsar par, yahan snan karke bahut hee achha laga hai.” (On this auspicious occasion, it felt very good to bathe here.)
Accompanied by Baba Ramdev
The actress was accompanied by yoga guru Baba Ramdev during the ritual. Both were seen performing the ceremonial dip and offering prayers at the Sangam, drawing attention from fellow pilgrims and media alike.
Reflecting on the Stampede Incident
Addressing the unfortunate stampede that occurred earlier that day, Hema Malini expressed her sorrow and urged pilgrims to exercise caution. She emphasized the importance of following safety protocols to prevent such incidents in the future.
A Call for Safety and Devotion
As the Maha Kumbh Mela continues to draw vast numbers of devotees, public figures like Hema Malini play a crucial role in highlighting the significance of the event while advocating for safety and adherence to guidelines to ensure a harmonious and secure experience for all participants.
