In Maharashtra, the BJP’s election strategy witnessed a notable shift under the guidance of Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw and Bhupender Yadav. Appointed as in-charge and co-in-charge, respectively, the two played critical roles in revitalizing the party’s structure following the disappointing performance in the Lok Sabha elections. Their approach involved addressing internal shortcomings, strengthening ground-level coordination among allies, and countering opposition narratives effectively.
Key aspects of their strategy included building synergy within the Mahayuti alliance—comprising the BJP, Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena faction, and Ajit Pawar’s NCP group. This included the formation of local committees to ensure smooth vote transfer, a problem that had previously cost the alliance crucial seats. Additionally, emphasis was placed on developing a grassroots presence by discouraging leaders from focusing solely on Mumbai or Delhi, instead urging them to work directly with local cadres.
This team also worked on creating a positive narrative for the government while neutralizing opposition campaigns. The leadership acknowledged gaps in combating the Maha Vikas Aghadi’s cohesive voting strategy in previous elections and aimed to address these for the upcoming assembly polls
