Delhiites, You Can Now Vote from Home: Process and Eligibility

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has introduced a ‘Vote from Home’ facility to enhance electoral participation among specific voter groups in Delhi.

Eligibility Criteria

The ‘Vote from Home’ option is available to:

  • Senior Citizens: Individuals aged 80 years and above.
  • Persons with Disabilities (PwD): Voters with benchmark disabilities.

Application Process

  1. Registration: Eligible voters must submit Form 12D to the returning officer of their constituency.
  2. Verification: Authorities will verify the applicant’s eligibility.
  3. Ballot Issuance: Upon approval, a postal ballot will be issued to the voter.
  4. Casting Vote: The voter can mark their choice and return the ballot as per the provided instructions.

This initiative aims to make the voting process more accessible and convenient for eligible voters, ensuring broader participation in the democratic process.

Eligible voters should note the following deadlines:

  • Application Submission: Submit Form 12D by May 3. Times of India
  • Voting Period: Specific dates will be communicated by the ECI.
