Delhi LG Orders Probe into AAP’s Welfare Schemes Amid Political Tensions

In a move that has intensified political rivalries in Delhi, Lieutenant Governor (LG) V.K. Saxena has ordered a detailed investigation into the welfare schemes implemented by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. The probe comes amid allegations of financial irregularities and misuse of public funds in several flagship programs.

The AAP, led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, has implemented numerous welfare initiatives, including free electricity, water subsidies, and healthcare programs. These schemes have garnered significant public support but have also drawn criticism from opposition parties, particularly the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The BJP claims these measures are populist and lack transparency in execution.

Reacting to the LG’s order, Kejriwal accused the BJP and Congress of conspiring to derail AAP’s governance. He emphasized that these schemes have benefited millions of Delhi residents and vowed to continue them despite political pressure. “This is not just an attack on AAP; it’s an attack on the people of Delhi,” he stated during a press conference.

The probe is expected to scrutinize the allocation and expenditure of funds for these welfare programs. Critics argue that the timing of the investigation, just months before the Delhi assembly elections, raises questions about its intent. Supporters of AAP, however, see this as a tactic to undermine the party’s popularity.

This development has added a new dimension to Delhi’s political landscape, with implications for the upcoming elections. The investigation’s findings could significantly influence public perception and voting patterns.
